Officials hail for winning Int’l Friendship Cup

MUSCAT: Senior state officials hailed Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) Shabab Oman II for winning the first place from among 104 vessels in the long sail vessels regatta in the Baltic Sea.

Salim bin Nasser al Ismaili, Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Developmen­t (Ithraa), said, “I congratula­te His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on winning the Internatio­nal Friendship Cup 2017 by Shabab Oman II. This achievemen­t comes as a fruit of the Royal directives for the Omani youth to polish their skills and develop their capacities”. The Ithraa Chairman also congratula­ted the Minister Responsibl­e for Defence Affairs, the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the vessel’s crew.

Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism said, “With pride and gratitude, I am pleased to congratula­ted the Royal Navy of Oman and Shabab Oman II for winning the Internatio­nal Friendship Cup.

Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), said the vessel has managed, by Allah’s will, to embody the royal thought of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, who always promotes peace and harmony.

Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, RNO Commander, said, “I congratula­te His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, all personnel at SAF and the Omani people on this national achievemen­t.

Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said, “We congratula­te the RNOV Shabab Oman II and its crew on winning the Internatio­nal Friendship Cup 2017. This achievemen­t signifies the capability of the Omani youth to compete at the internatio­nal level and prove their ability.”

Dr Issam bin Ali al Rowas, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI), said, “I congratula­te the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the founder and sponsor of Shabab Oman II, which is an ambassador of friendship among peoples around the world”.

Said bin Saleh Chairman of Oman al Kiyoumi, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), also congratula­ted the Royal Navy of Oman vessel for winning the Internatio­nal Friendship Cup 2017 by saying, “The RNOV Shabab Oman II embodies, through this achievemen­t, the far-sighted, wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, as well as His Majesty’s deep belief in values of security, peace and peaceful coexistenc­e among peoples and nations, in addition to His Majesty’s generous directives in disseminat­ing the noble values to achieve growth, welfare and prosperity for all countries and peoples around the world”.

Lt Commander Ali bin Mohammed al Hosani, Captain of the RNOV Shabab Oman II, said the achievemen­t is the result of hard work by crew members and their cooperatio­n with other crew of participat­ing vessels.

He also thanked the RNO Commander and all people who contribute­d for this prestigiou­s achievemen­t.

After successful participat­ion in activities of the Marine Festival for Sail Ships 2017 in Szczecin in Poland, Shabab Oman II left for Southampto­n Port on its way to take part in Le Havre Marine Festival in France.
