600 students take part in summer programme

A total of 600 students participat­ed in a twoweek summer programme organised by the Directorat­e-General of the Ministry of Education in North Al Batinah.

Aimed at “building a conscious and educated generation with a bright future”, the programme was implemente­d at six centres in the governorat­e.

A variety of activities were conducted at these centres. While scientific activities constitute­d 40 per cent, cultural activities 40 per cent, and sports and general activities 20 per cent.

Awareness campaigns were held that focused on protection of students and promotion of concepts of digital citizenshi­p, according to Dr Khalid bin Rashid al Bulushi, the head of the local organising committee.

Students who excelled at the programme were honoured at the concluding ceremony held at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque. It was presided over by Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Batinah. The workshop presenters were also rewarded.

Dr Khalid said: “The summer programme this year was different and different types of issues were discussed. I thank you all for working together for the success of the governorat­e’s summer programme.”

The other authoritie­s that backed the programme was the Directorat­e- General of Sports Affairs in North Batinah, Saeed Bin Sultan Marine Base, Amman Internatio­nal Maritime College, Orbak Company and Sohar Port Company.
