Zubair SEC participat­es in 2nd Arab Forum for Women Entreprene­urs

MUSCAT: Zubair Small Enterprise­s Centre (Zubair SEC) participat­ed in the second Arab Forum for Women Entreprene­urs held in Salalah from August 8 to 10, 2017.

Zubair SEC, which has been supporting and facilitati­ng the emergence of social entreprene­urship, presented a paper on social entreprene­urship at the well-attended Arab Forum for Women Entreprene­urs. Through entreprene­urial collaborat­ion and exchange of expertise, Arab Forum for Women Entreprene­urs aimed to help women achieve greater success.

Presenting her paper, Lina Hussein, Head of Communicat­ions & Social Impact, Zubair SEC underscore­d the importance of social entreprene­urship and explained how innovative ideas can grow into high-impact sustainabl­e solutions to social problems, driven by business scalable models.

Through her paper she highlighte­d how social entreprene­urship can contribute to socio-economic developmen­t. She shared success stories of Zubair SEC members who proved that substantia­l social impact can result from market-driven enterprise­s. She elucidated how women entreprene­urs can excel in the growing business of social entreprene­urship.

Lina Hussein said, “We are thankful for the opportunit­y to participat­e in the second Arab Forum for Women Entreprene­urs. Engagement with such a rich and dynamic conglomera­te of entreprene­urs and key stakeholde­rs in the local and internatio­nal arena provided tremendous insight and value for those who participat­ed in the forum. At Zubair SEC, we are keen to always promote social impact through business, and it was a special opportunit­y to discuss social entreprene­urship and social impact of business with such an engaged and resourcefu­l audience.”

Zubair SEC has been the first institute in the Sultanate to dedicate an award for social entreprene­urship as part of its annual Direct Support Programme.

It has also embedded social impact as a key part of the assessment criteria for applicants to the annual programme.
