Dancing cop stars in viral video of London carnival

LONDON: A body-popping Metropolit­an Police officer has become the star of a viral video clip after he impressed a crowd at London’s Notting Hill Carnival with his dance moves.

Phemmy Nice, who took the video and posted it on Twitter, told the London Evening Standard that the officer, identified as Dan Graham, “really lit the ground up... he turned it up big time.”

“He’s not feds, he ain’t police. You must be an undercover raver!” the MC said from the stage as Graham danced.

“Wow, wicked video!” Twitter used Sharyne Cummings said of Nice’s post, which was retweeted more than 600 times and favourited 1,400 times.

The newspaper said Graham was “famed for his show-stopping performanc­es” as a former contestant on the Britain’s Got Talent television show.

Hundreds of thousands of people attended the two-day carnival on the streets of north-west London on Sunday and Monday, which was a national holiday in Britain.

The Metropolit­an Police said officers made more than 300 arrests at the carnival for offences including assault, possession of offensive weapons, and drug-related crimes.

Twenty-eight police officers were injured over the two days, it said.

The annual event began in 1966 as a celebratio­n in Notting Hill by London’s African-Caribbean community.
