A rewarding mission for pilgrims performing Haj
Muslims all over the world have been celebrating Eid al Adha and today is the third day of celebration. This religious occasion has been commemorated in special ceremonies and traditions with family and friends. Simultaneously, millions of pilgrims celebrated Eid differently as they were busy performing the various rituals of the pilgrimage (Haj) over the past couple of days in Mecca.
The Eid was marked with changed practices there in the sacred places over these days.
Pilgrims were really distinguished and honoured to perform this significant task assigned to all Muslims.
The purpose of Haj is to commemorate the name of Allah in those special days when pilgrims are performing the rituals of Haj in Mecca and other places there.
As affirmed in the verse of the Holy Quran: “You shall commemorate God for a number of days”. Pilgrimage is an appeal from pilgrims to Allah seeking forgiveness, mercy and acceptance as obedient worshippers. and support to each and everyone as if they are one family; brothers and sisters.
It is very touching indeed! The way pilgrims are united and coming together is undoubtedly magnificent.
They sincerely worship the Almighty Allah in a different way unlike the usual prayers that are performed in masjids five times a day.
Each day, they perform different tasks in which they become very serious in what they do and sincere with the prayers they say.
Although the reason behind performing some tasks the way it’s done is hidden, pilgrims are obliged to follow what the Prophets Mohammed and Ibrahim have performed earlier.
Despite Haj is the fifth essential pillar of Islam, only capable Muslims are required to perform it.
Those who are physically or financially unable to go for Haj can do it afterwards when they are ready; or else assign someone on their behalf, but with certain serious conditions.
Otherwise, many people might get an excuse, but they get deprived from the honour and big reward of going for Haj.
All Muslims intending to go for Haj must be hale and hearty as well as strong enough to sufficiently perform all the tasks required.
The reward granted by the Almighty Allah to all pilgrims is that all their sins, faults and wrongdoings will be forgiven and rub out once they come back home from Haj.
The Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Whoever performs Haj and does not commit any obscenity or transgression shall return free from sins as he was on the day his mother gave birth to him”. He also said: “The reward of a Haj mabroor is nothing but Paradise”
As Haj season is bidding farewell, pilgrims are heading back to their homes; getting the big reward from Allah and starting a new clean chapter in their lifetime.
