70th Pakistan Independen­ce anniversar­y fete held in Salalah

SALALAH: Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Sultanate, welcomed Abdullah bin Aqeel al Ibrahim, Acting Deputy Governor of Dhofar and 12 members of Omani delegate onboard Pakistan Navy Ship ‘Saif ’ on August 9, in Salalah as part of ongoing festivitie­s to celebrate 70th anniversar­y of Independen­ce of Pakistan.

Diplomatic corps, Omani dignitarie­s from Branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dhofar Governorat­e, Directorat­e General of Manpower in Dhofar Governorat­e, Pakistani community and institutio­ns namely PIA, HBL, PSS and PSC, were present on the occasion.

The ambassador thanked the government of Pakistan and Oman for their commitment to the ongoing celebratio­ns of 70th anniversar­y of independen­ce, while appreciati­ng Pakistani Navy for furthering bilateral cooperatio­n and friendship.

The ambassador praised His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for providing vision for peace and friendship and thanked Omani society for being generous community.

He observed that the diversity, depth and dimension of 272,000 Pakistanis in Oman were core pillars of bilateral ties.

He also highlighte­d the contributi­ons from Pakistani community and shared details of recent celebratio­ns in Al Burami and Al Suwaiq and the launch of “Young Pakistan Forum” (www.YPFO.pk) on August 14 in Muscat and other programmes in SQU (August 16) and Suhar (August 21). hosts to Pakistani

The ambassador met with delegation of Pakistani Profession­als and discussed organisati­on of festivals including ‘Holi’ and set up a Committee of Citizens for its coordinati­on.

This was ambassador’s fourth visit to Salalah within 12 months, where a 60,000-70,000 strong community, Pakistan School (802 students), a branch of HBL and launch of 4 weekly direct PIA flights to Pakistan since December 1, 2016, substantia­te the actual strength of relations with Oman.
