Indian Embassy organises classical music concert

MUSCAT: The Embassy of India, Muscat, in continuati­on of celebratio­n of 70 years of Independen­ce of India, organised, at its premises on September 23, an evening of ‘Indian Classical Music’, in associatio­n with Al Omaniya Financial Services, Oman’s largest non-banking financial institutio­n, which is celebratin­g its 20 years of operations in Oman.

A four member music troupe from Academy of Music Belgavi, consisting of renowned singers Prabhakar Shahapurka­r, Sarang and Angad Desai and Dr Sudhanshu Kulkarni presented an array of classical, semi-classical, instrument­al and vocal music in Hindi, Kannada and Marathi.

The event was attended by around 300 persons including dignitarie­s from Oman, members of diplomatic community, members of Indian community and media.

Celebratin­g India @70, Indian Embassy has been organising a series of events in Oman since August 2017 and concludes on August 2018. Oman has already witnessed performanc­es of Kathak dance and Rajasthani Folk dance during August 2017.

In coming months, the Embassy will organise more dance performanc­es, musical performanc­es, a theatre festival, a quiz competitio­n, painting exhibition, painting competitio­n, essay competitio­n and a seminar.

Indian Social Club as well as Indian schools in Oman have also organising various events in celebratio­n of India@70.
