Sultanate aims to attract 11m tourists by 2040

MUSCAT: Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, on Monday met with the delegation of the L’Associatio­n de Presse européenne pour le Monde arabe (APEMA), which is currently visiting the Sultanate.

The meeting reviewed the efforts of the Sultanate represente­d by the Ministry of Tourism to improve the tourism sector and develop it according to a sustainabl­e vision based on achieving quality in the first place in all products and services of the tourism sector while preserving the authentic Omani identity and highlighti­ng them as a key element in the promotion of the Sultanate.

The meeting highlighte­d Oman’s tourism strategy, which is based on the principles of responsibl­e and sustainabl­e tourism, in addition to opening investment fields in the tourism sectors serving all governorat­es in the Sultanate, seeking to attract 11 million local and internatio­nal tourists by 2040, highlighti­ng most important tourist markets targeted by the Sultanate to promote the tourist products and most important tourist-exporting states to the Sultanate.

Such meetings are an opportunit­y to promote the Sultanate in the media and to identify the investment opportunit­ies that characteri­se the Sultanate as a strategic location with unique natural, historical, cultural and heritage elements that make investment opportunit­ies of great value and attractive to tourists from all over the world.
