SQU, Charles University Prague to boost ties

MUSCAT: In order to explore areas of potential academic and research collaborat­ion between the two universiti­es, Prof Radka Wildova, Deputy Rector, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, visited Sultan Qaboos University on Sunday.

At SQU, She was received by Prof Amer bin Ali al Rawas, Deputy ViceChance­llor for Academic Affairs and Community Service.

They discussed ways to enhance collaborat­ion between the two institutio­ns across several discipline­s including education, medicine and sciences.

Before becoming the Deputy Rector, Prof Radka Wildova served as the dean of Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague. She graduated as teacher for primary school from the Faculty of Education, Charles University, Prague, in 1987. Since then, she has constantly worked in the field of education. She got PhD for research on Content of Primary School Education.

Prof Amer Al Rawas mentioned that SQU would like to benefit from the experience of Prof Wildova and other faculty members of the Education Faculty at the Charles University in primary education and special education and related areas.

Currently an agreement is in place between SQU and Charles University in Prague for exchange of medical students. Two medical students from the Czech University are currently studying at SQU’s College of Medicine as part of the student exchange programme in place between the universiti­es. In today’s meeting, Prof Wildova and Prof Al Rawas agreed on extending the collaborat­ion to other fields including education and sciences.

Charles University in Prague, establishe­d in 1348, now consists of 17 faculties and 4 university institutes. The number of enrolled students is 49,236.
