Jaalan wins HM’s cup of best municipality, Samayil second
MUSCAT: The Municipality of Municipality of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali has won His Majesty’s cup at the 28th Municipality and Water Resources Month Competitions, 2017. The Municipality of Samayil came in the second place, Municipality of Mudhaibi third, Saham fourth and Al Buraimi fifth.
The results were announced by Ahmed bin Abdullah al Shuhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Shuhi extended his best greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on the occasion of the 47th National Day anniversary praying to Almighty Allah for His Majesty to enjoy good health and happiness and Omani people progress and prosperity.
Al Shuhi said: “The 28th municipality month competition was held under the slogan ‘Continued Efforts and Sustainable Development’ highlighting the ministry’s approach and its keenness on to enhance constructive cooperation and consolidate the concept of volunteerism among various society segments with a view to achieving sustainable development in line with the ongoing development march.”
Al Shuhi thanked the governors, walis, government departments, shaikhs, private companies, clubs and the Omani Women’s Association and the citizens for their efforts in serving their societies and contributing to fulfilling the objectives of the competition.
Forty-four municipalities under the ministry of regional municipalities and water resources have participated in the competition which spanned beautification projects, development projects, construction of public parks, expanding green areas by using modern irrigation systems, among other projects.
