National Student Festival begins today

MUSCAT: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, will patronise today the National Student Inshad Festival (By My Pen and My Voice I Enhance My Belonging), in the presence of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniya­h, Minister of Education, ministers and under-secretarie­s. The event will be held at the Ministry of Education Auditorium

The ceremony will begin with the welcoming tableau, after which Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamdan al Toobi, adviser to the Ministry of Education, will deliver the speech.

The students will then begin presenting winning works in the field of innovation and winning performanc­es in the heritage field. The winning directorat­es of education will be honoured in the festival competitio­n. This will be followed by the closing tableau. The National Student Song Festival is organised by the Ministry of Education on an annual basis in accordance with the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to hold a National Student Inshad Festival.

The aim of the festival is to develop the students’ talents, improve their skills, build their creativity, instill national values in them, and consolidat­e the values of loyalty, belonging and pride in the nation, its culture, leadership, unity and the gains of its modern Renaissanc­e alongside the integrated personalit­y building.

The students compete to express their loyalty and belonging to this homeland through the writing of a national poem, compose the music and performing it.
