World Diabetes Day marked

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MoH) represente­d by the NonCommuni­cable Disease (NCD) Department of the Directorat­e General of Primary Health Care marked on Wednesday, the World Diabetes Day at the Institute of Islamic Sciences’ main auditorium. The celebratio­n ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Mohammed Saif Al Hosni, MoH Under-Secretary for Health Affairs, with the presence top officials from MoH and from different governorat­es.

The event is held in line with the World’s celebratio­n of the Diabetes Day which is marked annually on November 14.

This year’s celebratio­n focuses on the theme of “Woman and Diabetes’’ to shed light on the significan­ce of giving women with type 1, type 2, or Gestationa­l diabetes the right in the comprehens­ive health care.

The celebratio­n ceremony commenced by an inaugural speech presented by Dr Suleiman Al Mahrazi, Director of Non-Communicab­le Diseases.

Dr Al Mahrazi elaborated on the major risks of diabetes and possible prevention methods.

A lecture was delivered following the inaugural speech on diabetic indicators, challenges, and relevant future plans in addition to the gestationa­l diabetes was highlighte­d in the ceremony through presenting a survey in this regard.

The ceremony underlined two initiative­s on promoting the health of diabetes. At the end of ceremony, the first three governorat­es were rewarded on achieving a high control level in diabetes through the past year, in addition to rewarding the successful diabetes-health promoting initiative­s.
