Majlis Ash’shura participat­es in APA meetings in Istanbul

ISTANBUL: The Sultanate represente­d by Majlis Ash’shura is participat­ing in the 10th plenary session of the Asian Parliament­ary Assembly (APA), being held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, from November 21-24. The delegation includes Salim bin Said al Maliki, Nasser bin Humaid al Ameri and Ahmed bin Mubarak bin Said al Hadhari.

The Asian Parliament­ary Assembly discussed ‘Sustaining Peace and Developmen­t in Asia’ which aims at fighting terrorism, drying up its sources and increasing the rate of economic, political and other cooperatio­n among Asian countries.

The tenth plenary session began with an introducto­ry speech by Ismail Kahraman, Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, in which he addressed the combating of terrorism and advocacy of the Palestinia­n cause and urged everyone to provide urgent assistance to the Syrian and Yemeni people.

The meeting will discuss the report of the meeting of the Second Executive Board, the report of the APA Secretary General on the work of the Assembly, reviewing of the recommenda­tions in the plenary session for adoption, the re-affirmatio­n of the candidacy for the position of Vice-President of the APA in 2018, in addition to electing chairman for the session and a number of topics on the agenda related to strengthen­ing of cooperatio­n between APA and the Government­s of Member States.
