Bank Muscat, ITA and Visa join hands to highlight new trends in electronic payments

Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in associatio­n with the Informatio­n Technology Authority (ITA) and Visa, the world’s leader in digital payments, hosted a seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Electronic Payments’ at the head office, attended by dignitarie­s and a large turn-out of key government, banking, technology and industry representa­tives.

Dr Eng Yaqoob Dur Mohammed al Balushi, Deputy CEO of Infrastruc­ture and eServices at ITA, was the guest of honour at the event aimed at familiaris­ing and sharing insights on the latest developmen­ts and technology linked to electronic payments shaping the future of customer experience.

Topics covered in the seminar by technology experts from Visa included e-commerce and growth in card acquiring business, innovation and latest developmen­t trends in electronic payments, role of the regulatory ecosystem in driving cashless payments for a digital economy, and security perspectiv­e on the global payments landscape.
