HAIMA: The Wilayat of Haima in the Governorate of Al Wusta is unique in its geographical position as it is centrally located on the Muscat-Salalah main road. In addition, there are large areas that can be utilised for investment projects. This is evidenced by the signing of an investment agreement for four usufruct contracts on 47 million square metres for the establishment of poultry farms as part of food security project of the Sultanate and other projects that could be implemented along with the spread of oil and gas wells in the wilayat.

Haima is at the centre of the Governorate of Al Wusta where it has most of the governmental institutions, which provide services to citizens and residents. Shaikh Suhail bin Mahad al Maashani, Wali of Haima, said that the wilayat is located at the crossroads between a number of governorates of the Sultanate and the Governorate of Dhofar and the presence of companies operating in the oil and gas in the wilayat, which give it great importance for further investment in various fields.

He added that the food security project recently signed to invest more than RO 60 million to establish poultry farms in the wilayat is one of the leading projects that is hoped to benefit the wilayat, the governorate and the Sultanate through achieving its national goals.

He pointed out that the services needed by citizens are spread throughout the wilayat, including the establishment of social housing, indicating that 50 housing units were distributed this year in the wilayat and its villages.

The Wali of Haima called on investors and those interested in the tourism sector to pitch in, due to the existence of a nature reserve in the wilayat and its strategic location, which make it an important station for tourists and visitors to the Governorate of Dhofar, especially during Khareef. This is in addition to the presence of oil companies and tourism attractions spread across the area.

In the regional municipalities sector, there are projects for the wilayat, most notably the design and implementation of the internal roads project in the wilayat (second phase) with the length of 5 km and the approval of two projects supported by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO): the first is the design and implementation of Haima Public Park on an area of 36,000 square metres and the second project is the design and implementation of slaughterhouse in the wilayat on an area of 10,000 square metres.

“There are many projects that have been implemented in the wilayat over the 47 years of the blessed Renaissance, and we are proud when we talk about it,” said Dr Hamoud bin Mohammed al Harsoosi, Member of Majlis Ash’shura. He added that the wilayat has its share of the service projects in different sectors such as education, health, transportation, electricity, water and communications, and the development process is continuing.

Abdul Rahim bin Zayed al Junaibi, Head of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Branch in the Governorate of Al Wusta, said that one of the most recent commercial and industrial achievements in the Wilayat of Haima and the Governorate of Al Wusta was the establishment of the new OCCI building in the governorate spending RO 250,000, which will contribute to the development of its future activities.
