FRiENDi mobile Winter Cup to kick off on 1st December

MUSCAT: Cricket fever is on everywhere, be it in the internatio­nal arena or be it in Oman. The last couple of months witnessed a huge number of tournament­s in Oman and teams were shuttling between grounds to ensure participat­ion. As usual it’s the time of the year the Jazz Boys Cricket Club does their little bit for cricket lovers. The 23rd edition of the FRiENDi mobile Winter Cup tournament for men and women, conducted by Jazz Boys Cricket Club, will kick off on 1st December for a period of 2 Fridays at the Ghubra Power Plant lush green grounds.

The tournament will be of just one category open to all players except that OC players from the premier division who cannot play in this format. Also, the organisers have decided that this competitio­n will be exclusivel­y for 20 teams under men’s category who register on a first-cum-first-served basis and 6 teams for women. Teams under men’s category who have registered in the tournament are AKCT Muscat, Al Sulaimi Group Holding, Asfandyar XI, Attic Outdoors, Glory Bower Strikers, GOP, HCC, Michael XI, National Gas, Rahil XI, Rain Riders DLP, Rajasthan Royals, Rangers, Royal Challenger­s, Sialkot Stallions, Smile Strikers, Southern Thunders, Strikers Oman, Teleboyz and Zawai Powertech. Under women’s category are Rising Stars, ISC, Strikers, Women’s Cricket Sohar, UMF and Surprise Stars.

The highly popular tournament is mainly sponsored by FRIENDI MOBILE, Danube, National Metal Cans and cosponsore­d by Al Hajiry Group, Cluttons and The Body Shop. The draw for the tournament will be conducted on Monday, 27th November, at the lovely Palm Hall in Al Khuwair at 7.30 pm, in the presence of all the teams captains, managers, organisers and sponsors. The tournament will be conducted as a day/night event on 1st and 8th December. The tournament organisers have declared a lot of attractive prizes such as the Champions Cup, cash award and gift hampers.
