PSM girls thrash ISM; MCCC, ISM, ISG win Junior League ties

MUSCAT: Pakistan School Muscat PSM bounced back from a crushing defeat to ISG the previous week to thrash Indian School Muscat (ISM) in a T20 Women’s League game at the Ministry of Sports grassy ground 2 in Al Amerat. Asked to bat first, ISM batted slowly but steadily to post 135 for 1 in 20 overs thanks to Kashish Deep Jaywant’s 55-ball 52 and Shradha Sandeep’s 35 off 67 balls.

PSM raced to the target in 17.1 overs with captain Hina Javed leading from the front with a 38-ball 59. Fiza batted well too for her unbeaten 50 off 57 balls. Brief scores: ISM 135 for 1 in 20 overs (Kashish Deep Jaywant 52 – 6x4, Shradha Sandeep 37 – 2x4) lost to PSM 136 for 2 in 17.1 overs (Hina Javed 59 – 7x4, 2x6, Fiza 50 not out – 6x4) by eight wickets. MCCC U-19 EASE PAST ISM In a Junior League Under-19 game at the same venue, MCCC trounced Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) by eight wickets thanks to a magnificen­t five-for bowling performanc­e by Omair Quddusi.

ISWK won the toss and elected to bat first but found itself in dire straits at 6 for 4 in the fifth over. It was soon dismissed for 70 in the 22nd over, Malik Rashid Ali Khan topscoring with 22 off 33 balls. Omair claimed five wickets for 18 runs while Wasim Ali bagged two.

MCCC surpassed the target in 14 overs, losing only two wickets. Wasim Ali led the way with a 23-ball 28. Brief scores: ISWK 70 all out in 21.1 overs (Malik Rashid Ali Khan 22 – 4x4. In a 30-over Junior League Under-16 match, Indian School Muscat (ISM) trounced Pakistan School Muscat by 79 runs at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 1.

Winning the toss and batting first, ISM was all out for 216 in 29 overs due largely to captain Azam Ali’s brilliant 96-ball 100. Arayan Gurumuhi scored 21 off 20. Sozhab Sohail and Muhammed Safan Shahid bagged three and two wickets respective­ly.

Facing a stiff target, PSM crumbled under the immense pressure exerted by ISM bowlers, folding up for 137 in the 22nd over. Habib Ur Rehman batted well to remain unbeaten on 43 off 38. Arayan Gurumuhi bowled beautifull­y to claim four PSM scalps while Anil and Jayesh Anil took three and two wickets respective­ly. Brief scores: ISM 216 all out in 29 overs (Azam Ali 100 – 7x4, Arayan Gurumuhi 21 – 2x4. Top class all-round show by captain Sanin Nisar Fahad powered Indian School Al Ghubrah (ISG) to a massive 10-wicket win over MCCC A in an Under-16 clash at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 2.

Sanin was first instrument­al in getting MCCC A bowled out for 124 in the 26th over, taking four wickets. He was the star with the bat too, scoring a highly impressive 73 not out off 46 balls. Nakul Mahesh was unbeaten on 32 off 47 as ISG overhauled the target in the 16th over without losing a wicket. Brief scores: MCCC A 124 all out in 25.2 overs (Piyush Sivakumar 34 – 1x4, 1x6, Roshan Tiwari 21 – 3x4. Sanin Nisar Fahad 4-23, Krishna Ganeshan 3-17) lost to ISG 126 for no loss in 15.3 overs (Sanin Nisar Fahad 73 not out – 11x4, Nakul Mahesh 32 – 1x4) by ten wickets.
