Oman, EU deepen mutual cooperation, understanding

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, on Sunday received Oman Friendship Group in the European Parliament (EU) led by Ramona Nicole Manescu.

HH Sayyid Fahd reviewed the constantly growing bilateral relations between the Sultanate and EU in all fields and commended the role played by Oman Friendship Group in the EU in enhancing the Omani-European friendship relations.

The meeting also covered means of enhancing Oman-EU cooperation in science, research, benefiting from the parliamentary experiences and familiarising with the available investment opportunities in the Sultanate, in addition to exchanging views on the developments at the regional and international arenas as well as matters of mutual concern.

Members of the Parliamentary Group expressed their pride to visit the Sultanate and view the achievements made in all fields. They stressed the appreciation of the European countries over the vital role played by the Sultanate under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to help reduce the regional tensions and promote tolerance and coexistence among peoples.

They also expressed the Group’s confidence that its visit to the Sultanate and meetings with the Omani officials will have a positive effect on enhancing the Omani-European cooperation.

Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, also received the delegation of Parliamentary Friendship Group in the European Union headed by Ramona Manescu, head of the EU- Oman Group.

Dr Parliamentary Al Mantheri Friendship expressed his hope that the visit will achieve its goals in supporting the bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the European countries to greater horizons in order to serve interests of the two sides.

He hailed the efforts of Oman Parliamentary Friendship Group in enhancing the bridges of cooperation between the Sultanate and the European countries, praising the EU Parliament’s experience on various parliamentary levels.

The meeting discussed means of enhancing the bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the EU, as well as discussing fields of expanding the joint cooperation between the two sides.

Manescu expressed her delight and that of her delegation to visit the Sultanate, pointing out that the Sultanate has various elements and potentials to achieve further progress on various levels.
