‘Desert Guide Caravan’ programme

MUSCAT: The activities of the second version of the “Desert Guide Caravan” journey in the Wilayat of Bidiyah in the Sharqiyah Sands, will conclude on Tuesday at the Ministry of Tourism under the auspices of Maithaa bint Saif al Mahrouqiya­h, Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Tourism.

Four Omani desert travelers and participan­ts, in addition to the work team and sponsors will be honoured during the concluding ceremony which includes exhibition as well.

Ahmed bin Harib al Mahrouqi, one of the four desert travelers, said that the concluding ceremony will be held over two consecutiv­e days. The a photograph­y camels’ caravan will travel on Monday from Al Khoudh crossing Al Mawaleh South till the Ministries District in Al Khuwair.

He said a Bedouin tent will be set up for one day at the space between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Tourism. The tent will be open for the public to get updates on the Bedouin life, drink coffee and collect photograph­s.

A number of booklets and tourism handouts will also be distribute­d the tent’s visitors.

The 2nd version of the desert caravan initiated from the Wilayat of Bidiyah in North of A’Sharqiyah on December 15th.

The caravan travelled for a total of 50 km in the desert passing by Sama Al Areesh camp, Sama Al Wasil Camp and Desert Night Camp and was greeted warmly by the communitie­s.
