Over 15,000 voters registered for OCCI polls

MUSCAT: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s HQs’ under the chairmansh­ip of Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Committee.

The committee discussed a number of topics the most important of which are the technical and technologi­cal preparatio­ns to equip election centres at the various governorat­es and ensure their readiness for the election process.

The Committee pointed out that the total number of voters who registered from starting registrati­on up to Tuesday stood at 15,774 including 3,904 in the Governorat­e of Dhofar, 3,088 in the Governorat­e of Muscat, 2906 in the Governorat­e of North Al Batinah, 1952 in the Governorat­e of North Al Sharqiyah, 1693 in the Governorat­e of South Al Batinah, 674 in the Governorat­e of South Al Sharqiyah, 545 in the Governorat­e of Al Buraimi, 478 in the Governorat­e of Musandam, 345 in the Governorat­e of Al Dhahirah, 122 in the Governorat­e of Al Wusta and 67 in the Governorat­e of Al Dakhiliyah.

The naming of the companies’ representa­tives will expire on Thursday.

As per the provision of article 12 of ministeria­l decision No 225/2017, relevant parties may object the initial lists of voters within three days from their announceme­nt.

The challenge may be submitted to the Appeal Committee on the designated form.

The decision, which will be made in three days from the date of submission, will be final.

The final lists of voters will be prepared after making decisions in all appeals.
