Oman to host business meet for Nepali businessme­n

MUSCAT: Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador, Extraordin­ary & Plenipoten­tiary of Nepal to the Sultanate, held a meeting with Ahmed Hassan Al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, on Monday at the latter’s office.

Al Dheeb welcomed Sarmila Parajuli and expressed happiness over the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The ambassador briefed the under-secretary on the latest political developmen­ts giving high importance on how Nepal after completing a long political transition, is moving forward on the path of economic growth with the focus on economic transforma­tion and economic prosperity through industrial­isation. Nepal located between the two vibrant and fastest growing economies India and China, is an attractive platform for investors and manufactur­ers.

Sarmila Parajuli highlighte­d that Nepal is moving forward on the path of reform on policies relating to economy, foreign investment, public-private partnershi­p, special economic zones, industrial enterprise­s, labour, mining, banking, intellectu­al property, FDI provisions and repatriati­on of capital, industry and commerce to encourage foreign capital and technologi­cal investment.

Al Dheeb congratula­ted the ambassador for Nepal’s constituti­on 2015 and expressed his desire to co-operate on the various sectors of commerce and industries. The discussion­s touched on exportorie­nted industries in Nepal. He encouraged Nepali businesspe­rsons to bring Nepali products in Oman and expressed his readiness to co-operate to organise an Oman-Nepal business conference’ so that Omani buyers can easily get connected with Nepali businessme­n and exporters.

The discussion­s also highlighte­d the possibilit­ies to invest in Nepal’s agricultur­e, infrastruc­tures, hydropower, and manufactur­ing sector. Sarmila Parajuli highlighte­d duty-free market access for Nepali products in EU market and duty-free market access in American market for almost 66 products and also emphasised that Nepal can be a great platform for export- oriented performanc­es.
