Sur Industrial Estate honours outstanding factories

- BUSINESS REPORTER MUSCAT, DEC 26

Sur Industrial Estate, which pertains to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), organised recently an event to honour factories that excelled in 2017. The event comprised a workshop highlighting the significance of insurance coverage for industrial firms.

This event came in line with the annual events held by Sur Industrial Estate in accordance with the vision and objectives of PEIE to emphasise support for the companies and factories in the industrial estates to excel and compete in the local and international markets.

Addressing the audience, Eng Abdullah al Kaabi, Director-General of Sur Industrial Estate, noted that in 2017 an increase has been observed in the number of factories localised in the estate.

“The number of the factories operating in the estate has touched 102, noting an increase of 16 factories this year. Moreover, the number of employees working in the existing projects in Sur Industrial Estate has touched 3,000 by the end of December 2017,” Al Kaabi pointed out.

At the event, Adil al Lawati, representative of Oman Insurance Association, delivered a presentation that highlighted insurance related concepts and the significance of adopting insurance coverage.

He pointed out the benefits of insurance coverage, which comprise the guarantee of business sustainability, protection of the capital, protection of the interests of shareholders, business owners, employees and other parties, and ultimately protection of the national economy.

The factories then received the Shield of Excellence, and other factories were honoured in two categories. The first category was dedicated to the big factories, while the second was dedicated to the small and medium factories in Sur Industrial Estate.
