Oman LNG supports Training for Employment Scheme

As part of its corporate social responsibi­lity efforts, Oman LNG celebrated the graduation of 35 Omanis who participat­ed in its “Training for Employment” programmes to support the government’s efforts in Omanisatio­n and provide meaningful employment to the Omani youth.

Funded by Oman LNG and facilitate­d by the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), the training programmes were designed to equip twenty candidates with the essential skills of the marketing discipline, and nurturing additional fifteen graduates’ capacities to work in metal painting. The training spanned for a duration of seven and six months respective­ly for the two profession­s.

Supervised and arranged by local training institutes, the training took place in a conducive learning environmen­t. In addition, the successful completion of the training programmes were linked to secured employment opportunit­ies in a number of companies in the private sector, thereby boosting the Omanisatio­n rate in this vibrant sector, an essential contributo­r to Oman’s economy and a potential employer for many more Omani youth.

“The graduation ceremony reflects Oman LNG’s bold commitment towards developing and training young Omani nationals. The training programmes develop a number of Omani youths to work in the private sector and boost Omanisatio­n efforts,” said Shaikh Khalid al Massan, CEO of Oman LNG Developmen­t Foundation. The training programmes fall under Oman LNG’s Human Resource Developmen­t (HRD), a fund that targets nurturing job-skills that are attractive to the labour market. Through this fund, Oman LNG, since its inception, has been able to enhance local capabiliti­es resulting in the employment by self-employment and job secured employment of more than 3,500 Omanis.
