HM issues five Royal Decrees
MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has issued five Royal Decrees as follows.
Royal Decree No 2/2018 establishes Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre and promulgates its system.
Article 1 of the Decree sets up the aforementioned centre and establishes its basic system.
The Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre will be established under the supervision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry and will be governed by the attached system.
Article 2 says that the centre should be a legal entity that enjoys financial and administrative autonomy.
Article 3 stipulates that the powers and prerogatives, allocations and assets of the Department of Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention at the Public Authority for Consumer Protection shall be transferred to the Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre.
The employees of Department of Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention should be transferred to the Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre with their current financial grades.
The functionality of execution of the said transfers shall be enforced in accordance with the mechanism to be agreed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the chairman of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection.
