Fahd receives Russian ambassador, UICC president

MUSCAT: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers on Tuesday received Dr Envarbik Fazelianov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation on the conclusion of his tour of duty in the country.

HH Sayyid Fahd told him to convey the greetings of His Majesty the Sultan to President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation along with his good wishes and the friendly Russian Government.

HH Sayyid Fahd hailed the growing bilateral relations and the fruitful efforts exerted by the ambassador during his tour of duty wishing him success in his future missions.

On his part, the Russian Ambassador expressed his satisfacti­on for the tangible progress the bilateral cooperatio­n witnessed.

He affirmed that the Russian leadership highly esteems His Majesty the Sultan and his wise policies on the regional and Internatio­nal levels.

He added that his country seeks to foster and enhance relations with the Sultanate in the different fields.

The ambassador expressed his gratefulne­ss for the Sultanate’s officials for their cooperatio­n in facilitati­ng his mission.

The meeting covered means of enhancing aspects of bilateral relations and reviewed the recent Internatio­nal developmen­ts, as well as issues of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers. PRINCESS DINA RECEIVED: HH Sayyid Fahd on Tuesday also received Princess Dina Mired al Hussein, President of the Union for Internatio­nal Cancer Control (UICC) who is currently visiting the Sultanate to prepare for 2020 World Cancer Leaders Summit in Muscat.

HH Sayyid Fahd welcomed Princess Dina Mired al Hussein and her accompanyi­ng delegation.

He reviewed the importance of the role being played by the UICC in deepening the world communicat­ion and supporting states’ policies in health fields.

He also affirmed the Sultanate’s keenness under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in promoting cooperatio­n with the UICC, particular­ly in fields of awareness and provision of complete care. Conversati­on during the meeting touched on relations of cooperatio­n between the Sultanate and the UICC in areas of healthcare, environmen­t and therapeuti­c services.

Princess Dina expressed her gratitude and that of her accompanyi­ng delegation to visit the Sultanate.

She commended the major efforts exerted to provide healthcare for citizens and residents, as well as the remarkable progress at the level of services in hospitals within the framework of the renaissanc­e being witnessed by the country, thanks to the royal care of His Majesty the Sultan.

She also expressed her appreciati­on of Oman Cancer Associatio­n (OCA) chaired by Dr Wahid bin Ali al Kharousi, affirming the Sultanate’s positive role in supporting the UICC activities.

The meeting was attended by Dr Wahid bin Ali al Kharousi, OCA Chairman, Dr Khalid bin Jabar al Thani, Chairman of the GCC Cancer Associatio­n and Jessica Mathieu, Head of Events and Congress at UICC.
