Be’ah receives Muscat Municipal Council members

Oman Environmen­tal Services Holding Company (be’ah) received 20 members from Muscat Municipal Council on Monday in its headquarte­rs in Bausher.

This visit comes as part of the council’s annual plan 2017 that included suggested visits, workshops, and conference­s for council members, as well as internatio­nal and local events and celebratio­ns that the council might be involved in. The visit is also part of be’ah’s message to spread social awareness on conserving the environmen­t and to present the challenges that faced the company throughout sector takeover process in Muscat.

Members were welcomed and then were taken on a tour to Al Multaqa solid waste engineered landfill and healthcare waste treatment facility in Al Amerat. Workers in these two facilities introduced the engineered landfill operationa­l mechanisms to council members.

The members arrived be’ah’s headquarte­rs to attend several introducto­ry lectures on different topics including the company’s at strategies and plans. Shaikh Mohammed bin Suleiman al Harthi, Executive Vice President of the Strategic Developmen­t Unit at be’ah, presented an overview about the company and its strategies, aims, and visions. The members were then introduced to other topics including sector takeover services in Muscat, presented by Zakaria al Balushi, Regional Manager at be’ah, and community outreach and environmen­tal awareness, presented by Hafsa al Harasi, Community Outreach Program Lead at be’ah. The presentati­ons were followed by a discussion session.

It is noteworthy that Muscat Municipal Council’s functions include providing the suitable suggestion­s to safeguard the environmen­t from pollution, suggesting the establishm­ent of markets, slaughterh­ouses and landfills and its relative regulation­s and coordinati­ng with the respective competent authoritie­s, finally, suggesting the regulation­s that govern collecting, disposing and recycling wastes in accordance with the latest scientific and economic methods and coordinati­ng with the respective authoritie­s regarding these matters.
