Enhance Eagles, PDO, HFP score victories

MUSCAT: Pranav Mehta’s solid 69 not out off 63 balls steered MDC Enhance Eagles to yet another victory, this time against Muscat Projects and Environmen­t in a Khimji Ramdasspon­sored A Division clash at Ministry of Sports ground 1 in Al Amerat.

Asked to bat first, Muscat Projects posted a decent total on the board, scoring 227 all out in the 49th over. Jason Delboy (42 off 68), Arun Dev (41 off 34) and Waseem (27 off 37) were the leading scorers. Mohammed Faisal and Anirmon Abdul Rehman claimed three wickets each while Omkar Pramod took two.

Eagles overhauled the target without much trouble, scoring 228 for 4 in 36 overs. Apart from Pranav’s useful knock, Pradeep Kumar (42 off 37) and Omkar Pramod (34 off 42) made notable contributi­ons. Vinod Venu bagged two wickets. Brief scores: Muscat Projects and Environmen­t 227 all out in 48.5 overs (Jason Delboy 42 – 1x4, Arun Dev 42 – 5x4, Waseem 27 – 4x4. IN THRILLER Vital contributi­ons by captain Zakir Khan, Abdul Naveed and Hassan Siddique led PDO to a nailbiting one-run victory against New Prism Internatio­nal in a Raha Poly Products-sponsored C Division clash at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 3.

Deciding to bat after winning the toss, PDO did well to amass 182 for 5 in 20 overs. Abdul Naveed topscored with 45 off 31 while Hassan Siddique (39 off 21) and Azhar Habib (33 off 14) batted well too. Puneet Mehta claimed three wickets while Rakesh Sudhakar bagged two.

Facing a big total, New Prism slumped from 91 for 2 to 132 for 7 before fighting its way back in to the final over. Requiring 17 to win off the last six balls, it could manage only 15 to go down by just two runs. Opener Salim batted brilliantl­y to score 56 off 28.

The next highest scorer was extras amounting to 25 runs including a whopping 17 wide balls by PDO bowlers. Captain Zakir Khan captured three wickets while Rajesh Khetani and Hassan Siddique claimed two each. Brief scores: PDO 182 for 5 in 20 overs (Abdul Naveed 45 – 7x4, Hassan Siddique 39 – 5x4, 1x6, Azhar Habib 33 – 6x4. Puneet Mehta 3-26, Rakesh Sudhakar 2-37) defeated New Prism Internatio­nal 181 all out in 20 overs (Salim 56 – 8x4, 2x6. Zakir Khan 3-23, Rajesh Khetani 2-28, Hassan Siddique 2-44) by two runs.

HFP BEAT OCT AL HAIL Hussain Fadhil and Partners (HFP) eased past OCT Al Hail, scoring a 7-wicket win in a G Division game at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 3.

Chasing OCT Al Hail’s 140 for 7, HFP reached the target in the 18th over, scoring 143 for 3 to register a sweet victory. Brief scores: OCT Al Hail 140 for 7 in 20 overs (Khalid Rahim 37 – 4x4, Adil Al Balushi 22 – 3x4. Sreeraj 2-24, Manoj Pillai 2-33) lost to HFP 143 for 3 in 17.3 overs (Sreeraj 50 – 6x4, Nikhil Thekkan 41 – 4x4. Doshambeh al Balushi 2-27) by 7 wickets.
