Support for renewable energy research initiative­s

MUSCAT: The Sustainabl­e Energy Research Centre (SERC) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and Bahwan Cybertech (BCT) signed a Research Cooperatio­n Programme (RCP) in order to bring collaborat­ive efforts of both parties to support Renewable Energy initiative­s in the Sultanate.

The collaborat­ion will take place with the inherent expertise of the SQU’s SERC in advanced research, policy making and as a premier institutio­n of learning to nurture talent while BCT provides domain specific and enterprise consulting, digital technologi­es, human capacity developmen­t and operations and maintenanc­e solutions.

The RCP in specific provides avenues for the SQU’s SERC and BCT collaborat­ion in following areas of mutual interest: Digital technologi­es for renewable energy, solar and wind, project consultanc­y, feasibilit­y, estimation, assessment.

The RCP covers other areas including real time asset and efficiency monitoring and control of IoT based sensor deployment­s; business insight analytics; collaborat­ive technologi­es for gathering social intelligen­ce, capturing stakeholde­r feedback and promoting renewables through social media campaigns.

The RCP foresees SERC to function as a Centre of Excellence to offer consulting, advisory, technology labs for industry players.
