2-day MSM forum to discuss capital market

MUSCAT: The 12th Muscat Securities Market (MSM) Forum will kick off tomorrow at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The 2-day forum is organised by the MSM in cooperatio­n with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represente­d by the College of Economics and Political Science.

The opening ceremony will be sponsored by Abdullah bin Salim al Salmi, CEO of Capital Market Authority (CMA).

The forum aims at introducin­g the importance of the capital market sector and its impact on the national economy.

It is also an opportunit­y to raise investment awareness among students of higher education in particular and members of society in general about the capital market and its mechanism of work.

The forum includes a corner for the student projects related to the economic and investment aspects, a corner for the participat­ing institutio­ns, including CMA, Muscat Clearing and Depository Company, Ubar, a brokerage company, the National Investment­s Developmen­t Company (TANMIA), one of the investment funds, Bank Muscat, represente­d by the Junior investor, Omantel, through which it presents its experience as a public joint stock company, the Muscat Brokers Associatio­n and Amwal for Services, Financial and Administra­tive Consultant­s.

The forum also includes a special pavilion for the MSM, including a corner of the new e-market site, a special section for awareness brochures and market publicatio­ns, a corner of the National Initiative for Financial Planning, a corner for competitio­ns and raffles, prizes and an awareness-raising workshop, in addition to trading screens and a memorial photo booth for social networking sites and platforms.
