Only online tourist, express visas from March 21

A new regulation promulgate­d by the Ministry of Health allows Omani doctors working in public healthcare institutio­ns to work part-time in private hospitals.

But they need some conditions.

Applicant should be an Omani specialisi­ng in one of the medical specialtie­s specified by the ad hoc technical committee formed for the purpose.

Only senior consultant phys icians, c onsult a n t physicians and senior specialist physicians working for the government will be allowed to work in private hospitals.

They should obtain approval from the Minister of Health based on the recommenda­tion of the technical committee.

In exceptiona­l cases, non-Omani (expatriate) doctors at the level of to meet From March 21, all applicatio­ns for tourist and express visas will only be available online and not at the service counters, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said on Sunday.

Applicants have been asked to visit the website — rop.gov.om — to fill in the travel details and attach all the necessary documents.

Fees can be paid by debit card through the official e-payment portal.

Applicants will receive the e-visa approval note by e-mail following which they should print the document and present it at the immigratio­n section of the airport.

e-Visa service will help visitors avoid long queues at the visa counters at the airport.

Many airlines have been calling for streamlini­ng of e-visa procedures for passengers who have to wait in long queues at the airport to get visas on arrival.

“Simplified visa procedures are important as we trying to bring more tourists to Oman. e-Visa will benefit travellers, especially first-time visitors,” the top executive of an Oman-based airline had told the Observer earlier. senior consultant physician or consultant physician can get approval from the minister. Applicant should not have received a notice or subjected to penalty for job-related reasons within a year from the applicatio­n date. Regulation­s stipulate the formulatio­n of an ad hoc technical committee tasked w i t h specifying certain medical specialtie­s entitled to permits. The permit is valid for a year and can be renewed 30 days before its expiry. The permit allows provision of medical consultati­on, medical service, performing surgery, medical examinatio­n and patient home visits.
