OHRC at global meeting of human rights institutions

MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represented by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC), is participating in the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, in addition to the meeting of the Committee on Persons with Disabilities in Geneva City of Switzerland.

The Omani delegation is headed by Shaikh Abdullah bin Shuwain al Hosni, Chairman of OHRC.

The meeting will be attended by the chairman and representatives of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions and some international experts from NGOs. The meeting will discuss topics on the rights of migrant women, the exchange of information on the rights of elder persons, the role of national institutions and the strategic plan of the Global Alliance, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Development Program, as well as the rights of persons with disabilities and the role of national human rights institutions.

The chairman of OHRC will also meet, on the sidelines of the meeting, with a number of officials of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations to serve the objectives of OHRC.

OHRC chairman is accompanied by Dr Nasser bin Saif al Shamsi, member of OHRC, Laila bint Abdullah al Oufi, Director of International Organizations and Relations and Salim bin Saif al Shaili, Director of the Office of the Chairman of OHRC.
