MCBS hosts students from Azzan bin Qais Intl School

MUSCAT: Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) hosted Grade 11 and 12 students from Azzan bin Qais Internatio­nal School on February 13. The students were introduced to all the undergradu­ate programmes offered by the college.

Faculty members, deputy heads of department­s and staff presented the various academic programmes and majors, and explained to the visitors the employment opportunit­ies, prospectiv­e employers and the important skills and knowledge to be gained within the various specialisa­tions. They were also informed about other MCBS programmes and activities, including the English Summer School, BTEC and IATA.

The event was hosted by faculty, led by Dr Anna Stalinska, Acting Head of the Marketing Department. The event was interactiv­e and entertaini­ng in that each presenter found his/her own way to attract the visitors to the different majors and get feedback from them. The Commercial Law team demonstrat­ed to the students a judge’s wig and gown while describing activities that Commercial Law students practice during their study, such as a moot court, where students practice imaginary cases.

Dr Dan Wong talked about the diversity of insightful jobs around the world for graduates of Airport and Aviation Management programmes. Ian Phillips highlighte­d the importance and growing demand for managers in the field of Health and Safety in all industries and all types of business organisati­ons. Aleksandra Minic discussed the advantages of BTEC programmes and invited the students to enrol in English Summer School, which will take place in JulyAugust 2018.

The visit was concluded by a tour around the campus led by MCBS students, who also answered the young visitors’ questions.

On February 28, MCBS will host an Open Day for the public to provide an opportunit­y to the public to learn about MCBS, its services and what makes it one of the leading higher education institutio­ns in Oman.
