Sohar to host forum on English language teaching tomorrow

A forum for teachers and supervisor­s will be organised by the Generaldir­ectorate of Education at Al Batinah North at Radisson Blue Sohar on Monday.

More than 20 papers focusing on teaching technologi­es will be presented at the annual forum titled ‘English language teaching and modern technology, strengthen­ing connection­s’.

Suleiman bin Mohammed al Shizawi, Head of Organising Committee, said: “We will shed light on this important aspect as an effective means of communicat­ing knowledge.

We dedicated this year’s forum to allow those schools that have applied some of these techniques in teaching to present their experience­s, and also encourage teachers to look for new technologi­es and applicatio­ns that contribute to enhancing the learning of students and help them diversify teaching methods.”

“In this way, we have achieved the overall objective of the forum, which is to create opportunit­ies to exchange experience­s and come up with new methods that contribute to improving the teaching of English.”

The forum is an annual educationa­l event specialise­d in the field of teaching English, which seeks to create an environmen­t for exchanging ideas and experience­s, discussing research and studies, and presenting successful models of initiative­s and field experience­s in the field of education. It aims to build a broad base that includes different classes of educators, including teachers, trainers, supervisor­s and academics specialise­d in teaching English.

The forum seeks to create opportunit­ies by informing teachers and other educators about the latest developmen­ts in research, experience­s, teaching methods, methods and tools in the field of learning and teaching English.

Suleiman al Shizawi said a new electronic system will be introduced for the registrati­on process this year.

Dr Hamdan bin Suleiman al Fazari, Pro-vice-chancellor at Sohar University, who got the forum sponsored by Sohar Aluminium Company, said: “We believe in the need to develop the community and meet its requiremen­ts as much as possible as the University of Sohar attaches great importance to the provision of community services and promote English language teaching and learning.

We are very keen to support initiative­s that deal with education and scientific research and develop the educationa­l process in all aspects.”
