Oman, Jordan enhance joint parliament­ary cooperatio­n

MUSCAT: Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, received Nayef al Hadid, heading the Jordanian delegation.

The State Council Chairman noted the strong relations between the Sultanate and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the keenness of the two countries to develop them.

The Sultanate and Jordan have historical and deep-rooted relations and many common factors that unite the two brotherly countries.

He stressed that there are broad prospects for enhancing the joint cooperatio­n between the two countries in the economic, trade, parliament­ary and other fields.

He said the visit of the Jordanian Senate delegation to the Sultanate comes within the framework of mutual visits between the two councils, stressing the important role played by the friendship committees in deepening relations between countries.

He added that the visit also represents an opportunit­y to exchange experience­s in the field of parliament­ary work, which helps in the developmen­t of mechanisms and maximise its outputs in both houses.

Dr Al Mantheri expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to further strengthen­ing the fields of cooperatio­n between the two countries and expanding them in line with the aspiration­s of the two brotherly peoples.

On the other hand, the Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Jordanian Senate held a session of official talks under the chairmansh­ip of Mohammed bin Hamad al Masrouri, head of the Omani side of the committee, and Nayef al Hadid, head of the Jordanian side.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of cooperatio­n between the two countries and means of enhancing them in all fields, especially in the fields of education, health and investment.
