OPEX committee gears up for local products’ exhibition in Nairobi

MUSCAT: The Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) Organising Committee consisting of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Developmen­t (Ithraa), Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE) and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held a meeting to discuss the preparatio­ns for the upcoming OPEX 2018 to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, in September.

The meeting, which was held at PEIE’S head office, was chaired by Ayman al Hasani, Chairman of Chairmane.

The meeting discussed the provision of facilities, informatio­n and data regarding the upcoming destinatio­n of the exhibition that shall be presented to the Omani firms. Additional­ly, tender envelopes on the organisati­on of the exhibition were opened during the meeting.

The committee informed that a delegation representi­ng the committee’s members will be visiting the venue of the exhibition in Kenya to get acquainted with the procedures, where they will meet concerned officials and organising companies.

The series events continuous­ly seek to of OPEX find and diversify the export channels of Omani products and increase the volume of the exports by providing the Omani exporters with the opportunit­y to present their products to new consumers and new markets. It should be noted that the destinatio­n of the exhibition is selected according to several criteria including the results of the study prepared on the proposed market, size of the consumer market, competitiv­eness of the products, prices, shipping and financial system of the country, as well as views of the participat­ing Omani businessme­n and exporters.
