Puli Sharma clinches the Arjun Raha Memorial Cup

MUSCAT: The 2018 Arjun Raha Memorial Cup was held at Ghala Golf Club on March 23rd in honour of late Arjun Raha, an avid golfer and a member at the Ghala Golf Club for over 20 years.

Arjun was a gregarious, friendly and caring person and a great family man. The event was formed in his memory by Mr Brian W Ritchie and his company, Muna Noor International. Over 50 golfers participated in the tournament to honour the occasion.

The format was stroke play and since Arjun Raha always supported the senior golfers, the Champion had to be a golfer over 50 years old.

With great weather conditions, there were some brilliant scores recorded in both the gross and the nett divisions. Tenzin Tsarong, the recent National Champion, won the best gross with a commendable 76, but since he is too young to be a senior, Puli Sharma from Muscat Hills won the cup with an impressive score of 78 gross. Runner up gross was Osman Yousuf with an 82 gross. The nett division was won by Sreenivas Hebbar with an incredible 68 nett and runner up was Sumant Sunder with 71 nett.

In the ladies division, Sanjoli Singh won the best gross with a score of 86 and Marilyn Hayes won best nett with a score of 78. The prizes for nearest to the pins were won by Pawan Singh and Anil Sethi, while the longest drive was won by Tenzin Tsorang.

The evening saw all the members and friends of Arjun Raha gather for the prize presentation where Ms Muna Ritchie and Mr Brian Ritchie gave away the prizes to the winners for the day. The memorial evening was concluded with sumptuous dinner and celebrations in memory of Arjun!
