Bilateral relations with Czech Republic reviewed

PRAGUE: State Council delegation, led by Chairman Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri was received by Andrej Babiš, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, during the four-day visit to the Czech Republic.

The Czech Prime Minister expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to the consolidat­ion of good relations between the Czech Republic and Oman and expand the fields of cooperatio­n between them.

He appreciate­d the great efforts exerted by the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for regional stability and the enhancemen­t of internatio­nal peace and security.

The Prime Minister stressed the keenness of the Sultanate to develop its relations with the Czech Republic and enhance cooperatio­n with it in all fields.

The State Council Chairman pointed out the future prospects for cooperatio­n between the two countries, especially in the economic, trade and investment aspects.

During the meeting, they reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and exchanged views on a number of regional and internatio­nal issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by the accompanyi­ng delegation of the Chairman of the Council.

Dr Mantheri and his delegation was received by Radek Fondrachik, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, at the Parliament House in Prague, Czech Republic.

During the meeting, they discussed the developmen­t of cooperatio­n in relations between the two countries, especially in the parliament­ary fields.

He praised the relations between the Sultanate and Czech Republic and the promising prospects for its developmen­t in the interest of the two friendly countries.

Dr Mantheri said that the Sultanate is keen to strengthen its relations with brotherly and friendly countries, stressing the role of parliament­ary diplomacy in achieving this.

Further, he highlighte­d the role of the Oman Council in the national work in the Sultanate within the scope of the state of institutio­ns and expressed his hope for further cooperatio­n between the Council of Oman and the Czech Parliament in the future.

The meeting was attended by the State Council delegation and a number of members of the Czech House of Representa­tives.

Also, the Omani delegation met Czech Culture Minister, Ilja Šmíd and during the meeting discussed boosting cultural relations between the two countries.

Dr Mantheri highlighte­d the importance of culture and its role in strengthen­ing the rapprochem­ent between peoples, deepening communicat­ion between countries, contributi­ng to deepening the civilisati­onal dialogue and improving common understand­ing among people.

He pointed out that Oman has a deep cultural heritage, involving people from various civilisati­ons.

For his part, the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic said that his country seeks to extend bridges of cultural communicat­ion with the Sultanate, which contribute­s to support the bonds of rapprochem­ent between the two friendly peoples.

The meeting was attended by the Omani delegation and a number of officials of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

Dr Mantheri concludes his official visit to the Czech Republic today, April 19.
