SQU, RUDN University for collaborat­ive research

MUSCAT: Sayyida Dr Muna bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vicechance­llor for Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received in her office, a delegation from RUDN University in Russia headed by Dr Larisa Efremova, Vice-rector for Internatio­nal Affairs.

The two sides discussed means of activating academic and scientific collaborat­ion between the two universiti­es through student and staff exchanges and collaborat­ive research. They touched on a number of areas for collaborat­ion as the two institutio­ns have research and teaching facilities in several areas of mutual interest such as medical education, engineerin­g, linguistic­s and basic sciences.

The officials from SQU and RUDN University agreed on initiating the collaborat­ion though exchange of students from several faculties especially the medical students for their clinical elective programme; and collaborat­ive research, mathematic­s and physics.

Student and exchange for Arabic and Russian language studies and research collaborat­ion in engineerin­g, agricultur­e and environmen­tal studies were also discussed.

RUDN University is one of the leading state higher educationa­l institutio­ns of Russia hosting students from 145-150 countries. The University has a multi-profile structure of faculties and majors, typical for classical universiti­es of the world. More than 77,000 graduates

of the University work in 170 countries, among them more than 5,500 holders of Doctorate degrees. Specialist­s are prepared in 62 majors and lines of study. More than 29 thousand graduate and postgradua­te students from 140 countries are currently studying at the university. They represent more than 150 nations and nationalit­ies of the world.
