Competency programme to promote change in work culture

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, presided over the conclusion of the second version of Government Competency Programme at Sheraton Hotel on Sunday.

The programme is implemente­d by the Ministry of Civil Service, in cooperatio­n with the Institute of Public Administra­tion (IPA) and Kafa’ah Company for Human Resources Developmen­t.

Speaking on the occasion, HH Sayyid Shihab said that the programme is one of the important ones to enhance competency of leaders in public and other organisati­ons.

He said that the Sultanate needs such competenci­es to develop management, leadership and innovation and create human resources which can take over leadership and management roles in public and private sector organisati­ons. He stressed the need to continue such programmes.

“This qualitativ­e and specialise­d programme is one of the internatio­nal programmes in the field of developing administra­tive leadership,” said Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

He said that the theme of the programme covered practical skills and creative talents that should be possessed by people in seniors posts.

Shaikh Al Marhoon made a presentati­on on the areas related to enhancing practical efficiency and promoting government­al work system.
