RUSTAQ CLINCH FIRST DIVISION LEAGUE TITLE

South Al Batinah team, Rustaq were crowned First Division League champions after beating Bahla 3-0 in the final round of the league.

Razaq Keeta was the main man for Rustaq as he netted two goals in the second half while his colleague Ahmed Mubarek struck the third goal in the 80th minute. South Al Batinah giants now have been crowned champions for the second time in their history.

Rustaq had already sealed their qualificat­ion to Omantel League in the penultimat­e round when they defeated Majees Club 1-0. Rustaq’s victory ensured that the team climb to the top of the league with 21 points.

Mohsin al Masroori, Vice-chairman of Oman Football Associatio­n (OFA), was the chief guest of the match. Al Masroori gave away the gold medals to the Rustaq players while the captain of the team received the league shield.

Sur clinched the third direct spot to Omantel League as they thrashed Bausher 4-0. Sur, who are in the second place with 20 points, were in a tough competitio­n with Seeb Club for the third spot in the Omantel League. Sur are now back in the Omantel League after a gap of three seasons.

Despite their 4-1 victory against Majees Club, Seeb will remain in the First Division League for the third year as they ended the league with 16 points. Seeb’s goals were struck by Saleem al Shabibi, Azzan Abbas and Ahmed al Omair (two goals) while Hassan Rabeea struck the consolatio­n goal for Majees.

Majees have already sealed their promotion to the Omantel League as the first club. Majees ended their participat­ion in the First Division League in the third position with 17 points.

Majees player Ali al Balushi was sent off after receiving a red card in the last 10 minutes of the game. Also, the match stopped for few minutes after both teams’ fans had a go at each other.
