Injazatuna to announce the winners of fifth edition on May 2

The committee for Injazatuna award for achievemen­t and youth excellence, instituted by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, completed the evaluation for different applicatio­ns that the committee received during the competitio­n time.

The committee will announce the winners of the fifth edition at a press conference that take place at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on May 2.

As many as 55 applicatio­ns were received by the committee from different sports associatio­ns, committees, different civil and volunteeri­ng organisati­ons.

There are different purposes for the Injazatuna awards. It is to highlight the most important achievemen­ts of the youth. Also, encouragin­g young people to excel in various fields of sports and youth.

There are three categories in the sports section for Injazatuna award like achievemen­t category and sports excellence (individual and teams). Also, there are awards including some scientific, innovation­s, art, drawing, photograph­y, theatre, social fields, poetry, story etc.

‘Injazatuna’ programme is one of the programme that is run by Ministry of Sports Affairs. This is the fifth edition of programme. The leaders Al Suwaiq recorded a crucial 2-1 win against Al Nasr at the Salalah Youth Complex, to inch closer to the Omantel League title. Hakeem Shaker’s boys showed great applicatio­n on the field as they continued to stamp their superiorit­y in the league by bagging three points. Meanwhile, Al Shabab had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Al Nahdha and as a result trail Al Suwaiq by 11 points. “We faced a tough team who are the champions of HM Cup. The Al Nasr players performed really well during the match. We registered a comeback in the second half and won the points” Hakeem Shaker, head coach of Al Suwaiq. “From the last three matches of Al Suwaiq, I observed that the team are more organised than before. We played with some good tactics. I instructed the players to close the key points for Al Nasr players,” the Iraqi coach added. On the other hand, Hamza al Jamal, head coach of Al Nasr described the result of the match as “painful result” for the team. “This is football and probabilit­y of a loss, draw and win are all possible. We lost against the leaders and a team full of star players” the Egyptian man added.

In some other games of the day, the HM Cup runner up Suhar, snatched a 2-1 victory over Al Oruba at the Suhar Sports complex.

Al Oruba were ahead at the end of the first half but South Batinah players made a comeback in the second half by netting two goals.

This triumph pushed the South Batinah team to the 12th place with 19 points while Al Oruba remained on the fifth place with 25 points.

“This victory pulled Suhar from the relegation area. I instructed the players to more focused in the second half where we scored two essential goals,” Murad Mawlai, head coach of Suhar.

“This is the new starter for Suhar in the remaining games,” Mawlai added.

Salalah giants Dhofar, also thumped Fanja 1-0 in a classic game after a goal by Vinoses. The victory helped Dhofar jump to 11th place with 19 points in the league table while Fanja remain in the eighth place with 22 points.

Meanwhile, Al Salam trounced Oman club 2-1 at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Oman club are languishin­g in the relegation zone as their record is at 17 points at the last position while Al Salam climbed to the sixth place with 26 points.

Saham, who are currently at the 13th place with 18 points, are in danger of being relegated to the first division and will have to pull up their socks in the remaining games.

Muscat and Al Mudhaibi played out a drab goalless draw and had to share a point apiece. Muscat is ahead of Al Mudhaibi by two points only as they are positioned in the ninth place with 22 points while Al Mudhaibi are positioned in the tenth position with 22 points.
