CAS Sur hosts ‘Eco-hayah’ expo

SUR: College of Applied Sciences Sur held ‘Eco-hayah’ exhibition gathering eco-friendly lifestyle ideas from various public and private institutio­ns towards environmen­tal protection. It was organised as part of the ongoing environmen­tal awareness campaign titled ‘Now or Never’ initiated by public relations students at the college.

Dr Huleis bin Mohammed al Araimi, Assistant Dean for Academic Support Affairs, inaugurate­d the exhibition.

The exhibition had three sections of exhibits ranging topics on awareness, innovation and entertainm­ent on various issues related to the environmen­t.

The best three ideas serving the environmen­t were awarded prizes.

It also included a green salad lunch to symbolical­ly emphasis the need to reduce our carbon footprint by promoting green environmen­t.

Two groups of presenters from Institute of Nursing in Ibra bagged the first and second prizes for the best ideas serving the environmen­t. Their exhibits showcased a spray system for plants developed from algae extract. Indian School Sur and an individual presenter Shahana Rajashekar shared the third prize.

The winning ideas were selected on the criteria of innovation, adaptabili­ty in Omani environmen­t and cost of implementa­tion,

“This diversity of ideas presented at the exhibition is a visible evidence of our sincere efforts to preserve the environmen­t,” said Dr Huleis after inaugurati­ng the exhibition.
