As the whole world celebrated the Labour Day on May 1, it’s time for all organisations to congratulate their employees on the occasion. The day marks the right chance to value all the tremendous endeavours and recall the achievements made by employees regardless of what they do. Nobody can deny the sacrifice of time and effort committed by each and every employee to his/her job wherever it is.
Mostly, employees strive hard to bring their best for the cause of their organisation.
In return, a bit of appreciation and respect is all what they need! This costs nothing more than having confidence in them and believing in their capabilities.
This would undoubtedly stand not only as a dose of encouragement to employees, but as a push to open up their minds towards creativity and aim high.
Accordingly, this will instil the belief of work as not a man’s punishment, but a reward, source of strength and a pleasure, of course.
Labour Day is an annually celebrated occasion to acknowledge employees’ efforts and achievements.
The day has its origins specifically the 8-hour day movement which promoted eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation and eight hours for rest.
In many countries around the world, Labour Day is linked with the International Workers’ Day which falls on the first day of May.
However, other countries celebrate the day on a different date, perhaps one with special significance for the labour union or movement in that country.
Being called the Labour Day doesn’t mean it’s only for those involved in a very low profile labour work! It’s for all those employed all over the world.
It’s an occasion to appreciate employees’ devotion, hard work and commitment.
In fact, the day signifies the importance of employees as a real asset of each organisation and business.
It’s a day of pride to employees involved in all sorts of jobs!
Celebrating Labour Day is an opportunity for all organisations to highlight the value of its human resources.
It’s the day to honour not only outstanding and high performing staff, but every single member who plays a role in running the business of any organisation.
Generally, all employees’ assignments are significant; otherwise they would have not been hired for that particular job.
On this day, the role and efforts of each employee should be recognised.
Regardless how simple is the role or impact of a job, it shouldn’t be undervalued; we all complement one another at work.
Dear employees, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men.
As the Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran: “And say, Do as you will, for Allah will see your deeds, and so will His Messenger and the believers.” The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked what type of earning was best, and he replied: “A man’s work with his hands and every lawful business transaction.”
Although people are blessed with different types and ranks of jobs, but this doesn’t mean that the ones with highly paid or positioned jobs should underestimate those with low paid jobs or the ones involved in bluecollar tasks.
The Almighty Allah, says in the Holy Quran: “We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others.”
We all have no choice on what we do or have in life; it’s merely the Creator, Allah, who blessed us with different fortune and fate with no distinction to certain origins, religions, languages or cultures.
It’s just a matter of giving human beings what is good for them and serves them better during their lifespan! Fortune and blessings are fairly bestowed on people, but sometimes it’s just our own interest to get more and more.
However, everything comes at the right time; we just need to be patient.
