Nama Group conducts training programme to hone Omani talents

MUSCAT: As part of the sustainabi­lity policy to enhance Incountry Value (ICV), Nama Group organised a training programme to thrive Omani electricia­ns’ competenci­es and skills in the electricit­y sector.

The training course, entitled “Electricia­n Training Programme”, was held under the auspices of Ibrahim Said al Suleimani, Executive Manager — Group Human Resources, in the group’s Nama Institute for Competency Developmen­t (NICD).

Within the economic objectives of the group’s sustainabi­lity policy, Nama Group promotes the ICV concept to develop human resources, local products, SMES and ensure knowledge sharing through the group’s initiative­s and programmes.

The programme was initiated based on the analysed study, carried out by the group, to result into valued potentials to the ICV in the Sultanate. The training main goal is to enhance the participan­ts’ knowledge and capabiliti­es to enable them to meet the requiremen­ts of licenses needed to work at the electricit­y sector. Accordingl­y, the participan­ts will be able to exploit the employment opportunit­ies of the contractor­s, working for Nama Group or build their own businesses to work with the Group.

The Electricia­n Training Programme targets to increase the percentage of Omani electricia­ns and the number of Omanisatio­n in the electricit­y fields. The programme to be presented for 75 participan­ts, divided in 4 different batches. The training commenced from May 6, 2018 with the first batch and to be finalised on September 16, 2018 with the last group of trainees. The programme includes induction on electrical engineerin­g and HSE, site training on service wiring, Oman electrical standard course, in addition to other relevant subjects.
