SPORTS MINISTRY FELICITATE­S ‘INJAZATUNA’ AWARD WINNERS

The Ministry of Sports Affairs presented the Injazatuna awards for achievemen­t and youth excellence by felicitati­ng the winners at a glittering function held at the Sheraton Hotel on Monday.

The event was held in the presence of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Informatio­n, Shaikh Saad bin Mohammed al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, chairmen of various sports associatio­ns, committees and officials.

The Minister of Informatio­n affirmed that this award is an important addition to any young man who has achieved a local or internatio­nal victory. “Thanks and great appreciati­on to the Ministry of Sports Affairs for sponsoring the youth and their achievemen­ts in various local, Arab and internatio­nal fields,” Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani said. “Thanks to the ministry to have this initiative for all the youth who achieved sports and youth victories in the season of 2017/2018,” Mohammed al Suliemani, Omani sprinter and one of the winners of Injazatuna awards, said. “I believe all achievemen­ts occurred due to the confidence, diligence and perseveran­ce with the right process and clear goals,” Al Suliemani added.

“There are many preparatio­n programmes run by the Ministry of Sports Affairs in summer. Also, there are many youth programmes and activities in summer that build exposure and help in participat­ion. Thanks to the ministry for all the efforts done,” the Sultanate’s sprinter concluded.

“The Ministry of Sports Affairs is continuing to support the national football team on their occasions of achieving the title of the 23rd Gulf Cup in Kuwait. This award will be as a positive push for the national team to play better in Asian Games in UAE,” Ahmed al Rashdi, member of Oman Football Associatio­n, said.

Abdullah Ba Mukhalef, Chairman of Oman Tables Tennis Committee, said that OTTC’S win at the Injazatuna awards is considered as a new achievemen­t for the committee among a series triumphs.

“The OTTC is working very hard to spread the sport around the Sultanate. We are focusing on the juniors, cadet and hopes to build up them and improve their technical skills for future,” Ba Mukhalef added. “Human developmen­t is also one of our main strategic goals in the committee. We organised recently some profession­al training courses for referees and coaches with cooperatio­n of the Internatio­nal Table Tennis Associatio­n,” chairman of Oman Tables Tennis Committee added.

The committee for Injazatuna award for achievemen­t and youth excellence, instituted by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, had announced the winners of the third edition last week.

Oman Table Tennis Committee grabbed the award for achievemen­ts and excellence for the developmen­t and promotion of table tennis around the Sultanate.

The Mazoon Theatre Team claimed the achievemen­t and youth excellence award for the best show for teams at Al Sawari Theatre Festival. Athlete Mohammed al Suleimani clinched Injazatuna award for achievemen­t and youth excellence. Salim al Habsi got achievemen­t and youth excellence Injazatuna award after he won the GCC leaders creative and youth excellence award (innovation category). Mohammed al Mashaiki took the Injazatuna award for people with disabiliti­es. He had clinched silver at the World Cup athletics for disabiliti­es in London in 2017.
