Oman Olympic Committee’s Executive Office approves delegation for Asian Games

MUSCAT: The Executive Office of the Board of Directors of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held its first meeting this year yesterday morning under the chairmansh­ip of Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, OOC Board Chairman.

Several issues were discussed during the meeting including the progress of implementa­tion of decisions passed at the last meeting of the first Board meeting in 2018.

The office approved the final list of arbitrator­s raised by Oman Dispute Resolution and Arbitratio­n for Sport Committee.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing preparatio­n of Omani national teams proposed to take part in the 18th Asian Games scheduled to be held in the two cities of Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from

18 August to 2 September 2018. The Sultanate will participat­e in nine sports, namely athletics, swimming, shooting, football, beach volleyball, tennis, sailing, hockey and weightlift­ing. The office approved the list of administra­tive delegation accompanyi­ng the Omani mission taking part in the above Games.

The office also familiaris­ed itself with the OOC’S participat­ion in the recently held Regional Forum of National Olympic Committees for Central and West Asia which was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Kazim al Balushi, Oman’s delegation manager for the Asian Games in Indonesia; and Fatma al Harthy head of coordinati­on and follow-up section, represente­d OOC in that forum. During the meting, national teams’ registrati­on for the official website of the Asian Games was discussed and approved.

The office reviewed the report on the Chef de Mission Seminar held in Argentine from 23-26 April on the latest ongoing preparatio­ns to host the most prominent youth event. Oman Olympic Committee was represente­d by Ahmed bin Darwish al Balushi, Chef de Mission for the above Games.
