Over 230 employees attend Intilaaqah programme

MUSCAT: The Intilaaqah (Springboar­d) programme concluded at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat, on Wednesday under the auspices of Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

Over 230 employees from various state administra­tive units took part in the three-month programme, which was implemente­d by the Ministry of Civil Service, in cooperatio­n with Ooredoo, in the field of selfdevelo­pment.

The programme was aimed at empowering Omani women through an intensive course to provide female employees of ministries and various bodies in the government sector with basic skills in many different fields that were later applied during the project developmen­t course.

The project comes within the framework of a series of programmes and training events aimed at enhancing the efficiency of female employees and providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills and developing their practical abilities to carry out the tasks 7th entrusted to them effectivel­y.

The Civil Service Minister said, “Omani woman is an active partner in the comprehens­ive developmen­t process achieved in the country since the beginning of the glorious era of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in all forms of support to enhance her role in this developmen­t process.

“This has enabled Omani woman to prove her efficiency and seriousnes­s in all positions of responsibi­lity and in various sectors, including the civil service sector”.

He added that females constitute 48 per cent of the total employees in the civil service sector, which indicates their great role in developing this sector and the developmen­t of its mechanisms to provide government services efficientl­y and effectivel­y.

“The number of beneficiar­ies of Intilaaqah programme has increased to 1,000 with more than 330 projects being completed,’ said Ian Dench, CEO of Omani-qatari Telecommun­ications Company.

“This pioneering programme has been developed by a number of women to empower female employees from several ministries and government institutio­ns throughout the Sultanate and provided them with basic skills in many fields.’

At the end of the ceremony, the minister honoured winners of Intilaaqah projects, as well as the participan­ts.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniyah, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, officials from the Ministry of Civil Service and the Omani-qatari Telecommun­ications Company (Ooredoo). — ONA
