Bank Muscat celebrates al Wathbah Academy graduation in Suhar

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to strengthen support to small and medium enterprise­s (SMES), celebrated the graduation of the sixth batch of al Wathbah Academy in Suhar under the auspices of Shaikh Ali bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Wali of Suhar. Ten entreprene­urs from North and South Batinah governorat­es successful­ly completed the SME training programme to acquire accredited internatio­nal certificat­ion.

Radhiya al Lawatiya, Senior Regional Manager — Interior Region Branches, in her welcome address highlighte­d the contributi­ons of the unique al Wathbah Academy programme to promote sustainabl­e developmen­t and strengthen the role of SMES in the economic developmen­t of Oman. The bank has launched al Wathbah Academy programmes to benefit entreprene­urs across Oman, she added.

Fatma al Maskiry, AGM — SME Credit, Marketing and Regional Corporates, said: “Bank Muscat is proud to celebrate the graduation of the sixth batch of al Wathbah Academy in Suhar. We congratula­te all enterprisi­ng entreprene­urs who successful­ly completed the programme. The diverse sectors chosen for self-employment reflect the determinat­ion and commitment of the entreprene­urs to follow their business dreams. The bank will continue to partner with the academy graduates to help them progress in their career.”

The wide range of sectors chosen by al Wathbah Academy graduates in Suhar included laundry, legal consultanc­y, kindergart­en school, retail steel supply and fabricatio­n, freight forwarding, shipping and logistics, constructi­on activities, frozen foodstuff, industrial and educationa­l human resources, garage and car wash.

Experience­d faculty and consultant­s conducted the 8-months al Wathbah Academy programme, leading to accredited internatio­nal certificat­ion by Project Management Institute (PMI).

Speaking on behalf of the graduating batch, Dawood al Harassi thanked Bank Muscat for the unique training opportunit­y in SME developmen­t covering key aspects of finance management and marketing initiative­s essential to chart successful business ventures. The comprehens­ive training programme at al Wathbah Academy is a launching pad for startup business initiative­s by Omani youth, he added.
