Ayman, Khalid to participat­e at Asian Master swim meet

The National teams and coaches committee at the Oman Swimming Associatio­n (OSA) held a meeting on Sunday which was presided over by Taha al Kishry, the chairman of the Oman Swimming Associatio­n in attendance of the members.

The Oman national head coach and support staff presented a detailed plan for the committee for upcoming camps and training sessions.

The committee approved the national team camp during the holy month of Ramadhan followed U-16s May commence Asian The sixth edition of the Shababi programme which is run by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, is gearing up to launch its activities. The programme that will continue for 90 days will begin on June 4 and end on August 24.

The organising committee completed its preparatio­n and coordinati­on with all youth complexes and clubs that will hold the different enterprise­s of Shababi programme. The main objective of the programme is encouragin­g the youth to pursue a series of cultural, social, scientific, environmen­tal and the traditiona­l aspects of Oman’s customs.

“The Shababi programme has come under the Omani Sports Strategy, which was approved by the Council of Ministers. The practicing of sports, taking part in youth, by another camp in Al Buraimi. Also, the committee approved the participat­ion of the national team in Tunisia during July 9 to 19.

The committee also gave its nod for participat­ion of two Omani swimmers Ayman al Kulaibi and Khalid al Kulaibi in the first Asian Master Swimming Meet.

The committee also approved having an external camp in Europe. The swimmers will also be tested and seen before they are taken in for the selection camp. In addition, committee agreed for an internal camp in Dhofar Governorat­e after the holy month of Ramadhan. cultural and social activities and exploitati­on of leisure time among young people are the main missions of the programme,” Said al Rahbi, head of Shababi programme said.

“The Ministry of Sports Affairs approved the list of activities to be implemente­d in all the youth complexes. It is going to cover all the youth interests and discover their talents and different technical skills. Also, they are assigned profession­al lecturers and trainers who are going to take part in some of listed activities,” Al Rahbi concluded.

“We set a full media package plan to cover the programme. We will have different events around the Sultanate. This required to highlight on the efforts taken by the members of youth committees through different channels of the media,” Balqees Mohammadi, member in the main committee of Shababi programme and head of the media team said.
