Sultanate hands over 238 textbooks to Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has handed over 238 Arabic language textbooks to its counterpar­t in Brunei Darussalam in support of the efforts to improve the level of teaching and learning the Arabic language in the country.

The textbooks, received by the embassy from the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate, were handed over to the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Brunei Darussalam by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskari, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.

The ministry oversees Arab and religious schools in Brunei. This came at an official ceremony held by the ministry in an Arab school under its supervisio­n in the presence of Dato Haj Abdul Aziz bin Orange Kaya Maharaja Laila Haj Mohammad Yousef, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

authoritie­s in Brunei to contribute to the disseminat­ion of the Arabic language among people in Brunei, as well as supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Brunei to promote the teaching and learning of Arabic in Arab and religious schools in Brunei.

He added that these efforts have resulted in the establishm­ent of two Omani publicatio­n corners, one of which is at the library of the University of Sultan Al Sharif Ali Islamic University. It contains more than 500 copies and the other one is at the University of Brunei Darussalam.

It contains over 700 publicatio­ns dealing with the contributi­ons of Omani scientists, thinkers and researcher­s in enriching intellectu­al and literary production to meet the needs of students of science and researcher­s in many types of knowledge, especially with regard to Oman.

Dato Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orange Kaya Maharaja Laila Haj Mohammad Yousef praised the major role played by the Sultanate’s Embassy in promoting communicat­ion between the two friendly peoples and to introduce and spread the Arabic language in Brunei.

He expressed his appreciati­on and interest in the textbooks taught in the primary stages in the Sultanate. He affirmed that the textbooks will contribute effectivel­y to enrich the process of teaching and learning the Arabic language in Brunei Darussalam.
